CARL NELSON, well-known bluegrass and country fiddler and piano player passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 after a long battle with emphysema. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving at Fort Sill, Oklahoma from 1958 to 1959. He was born August 23, 1935 in Roanoke, VA. He was 71 years of age.

In his musical career he performed with many well known entertainers such as Loretta Lynn, Mac Wiseman, Bill Harrell & The Virginians, Larry Stephenson, Smitty Irvin, Buck Owens, Eddie Matherly & The Country Kings, Roy Self, The Country Gentlemen, Roy Clark, Patsy Cline, Jimmy Dean, Bobby Stephenson, Jimmy Case & The Cherokees, Allison Krauss, Buzz Busby, The Busby Brothers, plus many, many others.
